ABOUT US
Associazione Benach's mission is to document and develop awareness of historical events in order to encourage engagement and preserve the historical heritage of Nago-Torbole
OUR VISION
Our Vision
To honor and share the history of Nago–Torbole and the Trentino region, sparking pride and connection locally and globally — from our Sister City of Fort Smith, Arkansas, to the 10th Mountain Division & U.S. Army Ranger community.

Our Mission
Associazione Benàch is a non-profit organisation that brings Northern Italy’s history to life. Through memorials, tours, research, publications, and community programs, we connect the past to the present, inspiring people everywhere to remember, reflect, and engage.
WHAT WE DO
Our work includes:
-
Organizing memorial events to honor those who shaped history
-
Offering individual and group historical tours, including civilian and military “Staff Rides”
-
Publishing books on key historical events
-
Conducting WWI and WWII archaeology, with a strong reputation for air crash discoveries and research, particularly related to the 10th Mountain Division
-
Producing documentaries, including the award-winning The Lost Mountaineers and our new project With Love, Billy on the life and legacy of BG William O. Darby
-
Hosting community events that engage and educate
-
Researching other significant aspects of the region’s history
Through these activities, we aim to preserve the past, share knowledge, and inspire both local and global communities.
OUR GOAL
Associazione Benàch aims to preserve and share the history of Nago–Torbole and the Trentino region, where combat for the 10th Mountain Division concluded on May 2, 1945. Our goal is to create a permanent War and Peace Museum, where visitors can:
-
Remember and honor those who fought and died for freedom
-
Explore WWI and WWII archaeological research and artefacts uncovered by Benàch over the last decade
-
Learn about civilian life during the wars and in the years of peace that followed
-
Reflect on the human cost of conflict, understanding that starting a war is easy, but achieving peace and organizing a surrender is far more complex.
Through these efforts, we strive to educate, inspire, and foster a lasting respect for history among local and global communities.

In memory of the 25 men who died on 30 April 1945 when their amphibious craft 'DUKW' sank crossing from Torbole to Riva del Garda.

A BRIEF OVERVIEW
In partnership with the Trentino Historical Museum Foundation, we recall the the bloody battle that took place in April 1945 between the soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division (USA) and the German soldiers attested in over sixty bunkers of the Blaue Linie. A photographic exhibition, guided tours and a march help us remember the heroic American soldiers who fought in this region.
