Welcome to the Association Benàch Welcome & Research Centre in Torbole

We are proud to present the Association Benàch Welcome & Research Centre in Torbole—a special place dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the 10th Mountain Division and the wartime legacy of Lake Garda.

The centre was inaugurated with the participation of Keli Schmid, Archivist for the 10th Mountain Division at the Denver Public Library in Colorado, symbolizing the strong connection between past, present, and future.

What is the Welcome & Research Centre?

While not an official museum, the centre is a warm, living space where we:

  • Welcome and engage with visitors eager to explore this important history.

  • Safeguard archival materials and support ongoing research.

  • Screen our documentary The Lost Mountaineers for small groups.

  • Display meaningful artefacts and donations, including a notable collection entrusted to us by Lisa Balboni in honor of her father, a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force.

This centre represents an important step toward our long-term vision: to create a permanent exhibition space—a true museum—where the enormous events that took place here can be remembered, honored, and kept alive for future generations.

Plan Your Visit
